Will you go to prom with me?

The hallway was empty. Most people have already ran for their bus to go home or have met up with friends in different places around the school. Just John and Sherlock. Good. They would be alone. "Sherlock. I want to ask you something." John was shaking just a little as he approached Sherlock who was just finishing putting things in his locker. He spoke slow and low. It almost worried Sherlock how nervous he looked. "Is there something wrong?" Sherlock looked with slight concern. "No! Not at all! It's not. No." He took a deep breath and stood up straight. He needed to be composed. "Sherlock. We've been friends for a while now and I think we've gotten pretty close. When we first met, I told you I wasn't gay and I'm still not, but- but you're different. And I know you said you weren't but I thought, maybe its possible-" His words began to waver and his stance tensed as he got closer to the end. "I was wondering…I wanted to ask… would you go to prom with me?" He shut is eyes and braced himself for rejection or hurtful words or anything Sherlock could do. He really had no idea what to expect. He heard a simple chuckle before his words. It hurt him to hear Sherlock speak, but the chuckle gave him the worst feeling. It felt like he was laughing at his feelings. "Oh John…you are completely dense. No. I won't go to prom with you."John swallowed, clenched his jaw and fists and stood up straight and strong. "Fine. I'm sorry I assumed that you could ever have feelings for me. I was obviously wrong and I hope this doesn't change anything. " Sherlock's chuckled lowered. He actually looked a little hurt by John's words."No. You weren't wrong. I do like you. I just won't go to any silly prom with you. I'm not going." John looked back at him in disbelief for just a second. He quickly snapped out of it with a dopey grin. "Really?- You- Oh, you're going to prom with me." Sherlock frowned. "No I'm not. Its going to have bad loud music and lots of annoying people and unsanitary tables and chairs. Its going to be a horrible waste of time. The only thing that I like thats going to be there is you. " that last sentence only made John happier and more persistent. "I'm going to pick you up at your house at 7 and I want you to be wearing a tux. You don't have a choice in the matter." Sherlock rolled his eyes and was about to speak again when John interrupted and kissed him. Sherlock pulled back slowly with a light smile. "A nice touch, but the answer is still no." John smiled, just being completely content about Sherlock returning his feelings. "I'll find a way to convince you." He really couldn't give a damn about the prom, but any excuse to be with Sherlock was a good one. He took Sherlock's hand and ran down the hall.
